We're taking our community challenges outdoors this Spring! Our theme focuses on taking the initiative to clean-up our planet. Each month we'll be awarding points for trash clean-ups, with bonus activities for additional rewards.
the "WHY?"
Even with some states and municipalities like California, Vermont, and Washington D.C. banning single-use plastic straws and plastic bags, recent years have seen an increase in pollution rates. Those wrappers, cigarettes, and bottles you see littered around are now regularly joined by discarded masks and gloves.
As we eagerly await (and encourage!) our lawmakers enacting better restrictions on single-use plastics and better enforcement of littering regulations, we can contribute to keeping our communities clean.
At the end of the day, pollution damages ecosystems, harms animals and plants, and makes the outdoors less enjoyable for everyone. But with a little effort we all can make a difference and do our part!
the CHALLENGE
Get out and pick up some trash, but more importantly take photos and videos and compete for the best of each category!
CATEGORY 1. THE BEFORE & AFTER
Any litter is disturbing, but some areas have a shocking amount of trash - or the location it's found is especially vexing (the "how'd it even get here" shock value). Thankfully, that before and after shot can really boost a mood.
CATEGORY 2. LARGEST HAUL
Pretty simple, biggest haul wins: collect the most trash! It's cumulative throughout the month, so if you head out multiple times, keep a record of each of your outings.
CATEGORY 3. FUNNIEST POSE
This one's a wild card, and totally up to your imagination. Strike a pose on your clean-up, and whichever photo gets the biggest laugh snags the prize! Selfies encouraged.
CATEGORY 4. BIGGEST SINGLE ITEM
We're not looking for "old rusty truck" big, but if you're pulling a Red Flyer out of the creek you've got this one in the bag.
CATEGORY 5. MOST INTERESTING FIND
Honestly, the Red Flyer might take the win on this one too. We're always interested to learn what you find on your clean-up!
CATEGORY 6. BEST REEL
Make sure your song choice is 👌 We want to be inspired!
CATEGORY 7. BEST HAPPY EARTH SHOT
It's for advertising - there, we said it.
BONUS! COOLEST COMPOSITION
Any artists out there? Regardless of what trash you pick up, this is all about your framing. We're looking for *the shot*.

40 points per pound of trash, regardless of superlatives. Make sure you're recording your trash weight and taking some photos to verify!
